Gold Medal Versus Love?

Over the last few weeks the whole  nation got behind all our wonderful Olympic athletes.  There was no doubt that Katie Taylor was the star of the show as she lifted Ireland’s first and only Gold medal for boxing at the London 2012 Olympics.

All the dedication, sacrifices made, and hours of training were worth it for the girl from Bray, County Wicklow.  For a girl of just 26, she has achieved so much – from being a World Champion to an Olympic winner. This inspiring young lady is definitely the favorite for Ireland’s Sports Personality of the year!

But back to the sacrifices – Katie said in an interview the day after winning her Gold Medal that missing out on J1 summers, no drinking and no boyfriends were worth it.  That’s right guys – no boyfriends!

We all know sportsmen and sportswomen give up so much in order to excel at their chosen sport – but is sacrificing love worth it?  Could you give up having a boyfriend or girlfriend for sport?

Gold medals are all well and good but can a gold medal keep you warm in bed at night?  They can certainly make you very happy but do they give you butterflies in your stomach?

All that aside, the sacrifices Katie made have helped lift the spirit of the nation, and she has won that elusive Gold Medal she worked so hard for.

We at CupidRocks.ie hopes she finds some time to catch up on all the things she’s missed out on, especially love.  She may be too late for the J1 summer but it’s never to late to find love!
