Online Dating Profile Buzzwords – For Men

With the number of Irish people now meeting online, it is fair to say that online dating sites are here to stay.

So with more and more single guys and girls signing up to online dating, how do you make sure your online profile is a hit and not a miss?

Here at CupidRocks we have some tips for you – which buzzwords you should contain in your profile, and which to avoid!

This week we are going to concentrate on tips for all our lovely single Irish men! Don’t worry ladies, we haven’t forgotten about you, click back to for your tips next week.

So guys, here are the words ladies want to see in your profile.

  1. Good Listener.  When a girl sees this on an online profile they automatically think ‘this guy might actually listen to what I say’.  I’m afraid guys, you have a bit of a reputation for pretending you are listening but probably thinking of something else.
  2. Understanding.   Similar to the above. It is stating the obvious but when a girl reads the word ‘understanding’ they think this is the type of guy I want to meet. That’s what ladies want.
  3. Outgoing.  A girl wants to know if a guy can manage basic social skills. If you say you are shy/quite, the single ladies may think it will take too much time and effort to get to know the real you.
  4. Romantic.  It may be a cliché word to have in your dating profile but when a girl reads that word they automatically start to think of being swept of their feet by the perfect man.

Now for the no-no words.

  1. Charming.  This word screams ‘I can’t wait to flirt with your best friend and make inappropriate sexual innuendos’. Best to avoid.
  2. Handsome.  A girl does not want to be with someone who spends more time looking in the mirror than she does.
  3. Sexy.  Either saying you are sexy or you want to meet someone sexy will make the ladies think you aren’t interested in finding someone to have a serious relationship with.  The word sexy in an online dating profile translates as ‘I want a cheap, quick fling’.
  4. Reliable.  This makes you sound like you are advertising your tradesman services plus it can be perceived as very boring.  Better to say you are trustworthy or loyal.

Best of luck with your online dating guys, and ladies remember to click back to CupidRocks next week to get your dating profile tips!
